Mission Statement
The mission of The Carolina Academy of Strings is to provide excellent string education, training, and experiences for children of all ages (five and up) and abilities.
Goals of The Carolina Academy of Strings:
- To offer private instruction, introductory and supplemental music classes and ensembles, public performances and performance opportunities for students, faculty, and special guest artists.
- To nurture individual advancement of music skills, knowledge, and enjoyment for life.
- To provide a technical and musical foundation, while honoring and exploring the ideology of classical music training and performance.
The objectives of The Carolina Academy of Strings are realized by:
- Employing a faculty of highly qualified performing teaching artists that encourage all children to live up to their own unique musical style and potential.
- Offering students of all levels to interact with the CAS music faculty, guest artists and recitals offered on campus throughout the school year and summer.
- Offering comprehensive curriculum, from early childhood through advanced levels that build self confidence and a high skill level according to individual goals.
- Providing a safe and enthusiastic learning environment that includes individual teaching studios, classrooms, rehearsal spaces and opportunities to perform in the FAC Recital Hall.
- Offering scholarship programs that support music study for those with financial need and those with special circumstances.
- Supporting the public school string programs and youth orchestras by providing lessons and classes that enhance orchestral audition skills.
- Working in tandem with the Peace Center, Sigal Music Museum, Greenville Symphony, local colleges and universities that offer pre-professional and non-major music scholarship programs, to provide young string players the opportunity to attend professional concerts including world class soloists at little, or no cost to the students and their families.
